Day 1 We travel northwards and into Wales, arriving at our hotel in Llandudno late afternoon where we are greeted with tea and cake.
Day 2 We travel through the Vale of Conwy and into the Snowdonia National Park for a visit to Betws-y-Coed. After some free time here we continue through the park to Penrhyn Castle (NT) close to Bangor. The dominating stone façade hides opulent interiors of fine art, neo-Norman stairways and Victorian kitchens. The extensive grounds have fine views of Snowdonia and the northern coast.
Day 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Bodnant Gardens (NT), where we find 80-acres of rare trees and shrubs, Italianate terraces, wonderful herbaceous beds, magnolias and rhododendrons. The afternoon is free in Llandudno.
Day 4 Our day on the Isle of Anglesey begins with Beaumaris, an historic town with Medieval castle, gaol and courthouse. We then visit the ancestral home of the Marquis of Anglesey – Plas Newydd House (NT), designed by James Wyatt in the 18th Century and overlooking the Menai Strait. Explore the elegant rooms, the fabulous gardens and the Waterloo-inspired military museum.
Day 5 We make our way to Powis Castle (NT) in Welshpool. Explore the sumptuous interiors, the world-renowned gardens and marvel at the UK’s largest collection of Indian treasures, housed in the remarkable Clive Museum. We then continue homewards.
Our four-star hotel is centrally located on Llandudno’s iconic Victorian promenade, just 20 metres from the beach and a short walk from the High Street and the pier. Each room in this Victorian building is unique and has TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is a lift to most rooms, and entertainment every evening.
