A wonderful exploration of the interesting towns and historic houses of Lincolnshire. There are many sole use rooms available on this tour.
Day 1 We travel northwards, stopping in St Albans before continuing to our hotel in Marston, to be greeted with tea, coffee and biscuits.
Day 2 We drive to Lincoln where we meet our guide and have a familiarisation tour of the city by coach, and later in the day have a guided tour of the magnificent cathedral. The old town is a labyrinth of little alleyways and interesting shops to explore. After dinner there will be a quiz.
Day 3 Our morning is spent in the historic town of Stamford, one of the finest Georgian towns in England. In the afternoon we visit magnificent Burghley House, home to the Cecil family and surrounded by spectacular ‘Capability’ Brown designed parkland. Enjoy a game of bingo after dinner.
Day 4 After a leisurely start, we visit Spalding, with time to get some lunch. In the afternoon we visit Belton House, built in the 17th Century and set in its own deer park. The house featured as Pemberley in the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we travel southwards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and arrive in the local area late afternoon.
Our three-star charming hotel is set in the beautiful countryside of Grantham and has been refurbished to an excellent standard. The hotel has lounge, bar, pleasant restaurant and a health club which boasts swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Bedrooms have TV, (no telephone),WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has a lift to some rooms.
