A lovely spring visit to the Royal York and Faulkner Hotel, overlooking the waters of Lyme Bay on the Regency promenade at Sidmouth, a town with old world charm and delightful gardens.
Day 1 THURSDAY We make our way into Dorset, stopping in Poole for lunch. On into Devon, we arrive at our hotel in the afternoon.
Day 2 FRIDAY Enjoy the tranquil waters of the River Exe as we cruise through a constantly changing landscape that is home to a wide range of wildlife and migrating birds that make for magnificent viewing at any time of the year. Departing from Exmouth Marina, we cruise along the peaceful waters of the river towards Powderham Castle and along to where the river ends on Exmouth’s traditional seafront. The indoor heated lower decks have large windows for great viewing.
Day 3 SATURDAY A day at leisure to enjoy this beautiful Regency town with an Easter afternoon tea at your hotel. You might like to join your driver for a half-day excursion to Lyme Regis, but please note that Lyme Regis has very steep roads.
Day 4 SUNDAY Today we visit Seaton and the famous Seaton Tramway for a three-mile journey by narrow gauge tram through the glorious Axe Valley, through two nature reserves to Colyton. We have an included soup and sandwich lunch at the Tramstop Café. In the afternoon we visit Sidmouth’s famous Donkey Sanctuary.
Day 5 MONDAY Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel home via Dorchester. We reach the local area late afternoon.
