Join us on this delightful trip to Suffolk to see all things floral. We combine the beautiful pastoral views and picturesque villages with some of the region’s most beautiful gardens where we meet owls and include a cruise on the River Orwell.
Day 1 THURSDAY We travel east via the Dartford Crossing, and after suitable refreshment stops, we reach our hotel late afternoon in time to relax before dinner.
Day 2 FRIDAY We spend the morning exploring Lavenham, one of England’s finest medieval villages with its half-timbered framed buildings. In the afternoon we visit the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, with over 80 owls & birds of prey, meerkats, red squirrels and porcupines - something for everyone!
Day 3 SATURDAY This morning we make the journey to Beth Chatto Gardens; six acres of beautiful gardens created from an overgrown wasteland with planting led by Beth Chatto's mantra 'The right plant for the right place'. This afternoon we enjoy a two-hour return cruise along the River Orwell.
Day 4 SUNDAY We visit Audley End House, one of England’s grandest stately homes. Equipped with original and reproduction Victorian fixtures and fittings the house creates an atmospheric portrait of daily Victorian life. Take a stroll over to the stable yard to meet the horses before enjoying the tranquil gardens remodelled by ‘Capability’ Brown.
Day 5 MONDAY We depart after breakfast for our journey home. On the way we visit the wonderful RHS Garden Hyde Hall, with its eclectic mix of traditional and modern, with a fine dry garden, rose garden and glorious herbaceous borders. We continue to the local area and home.
