A tour exploring the beautiful house and gardens at Tyntesfield, UNESCO Heritage in Bath and maritime history in Bristol.
Day 1 We travel across country to Bradford-on-Avon for some free time for refreshments. We continue to our hotel north of Bristol in time to relax before dinner.
Day 2 This morning we head for the Tyntesfield Estate, a spectacular Victorian Gothic Revival estate, which has been beautifully restored. Spiralling turrets and pinnacles adorn the roof, and ornate stone carvings give the feel of a fairytale mansion while terraced lawns give way to spacious parkland, and a wonderful walled kitchen garden. On our way back, we stop for views of Bristol’s famous suspension bridge in Clifton.
Day 3 We visit Bristol’s historic harbour-side and the iconic steamship SS Great Britain. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the ship lies at the heart of a multi-award-winning visitor attraction. You can tour the ship from the sumptuous surrounds of the First Class Dining Saloon to the cramped bunks in steerage. The afternoon is free in Bristol.
Day 4 A Sunday in Bath, renowned for its Roman-built baths and Georgian architecture. The town is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, packed with historic buildings, including the stunning Abbey and the Royal Crescent. There are also many independent shops and a great variety of eateries for lunch.
Day 5 We make our way homewards, with a stop in Marlborough over lunchtime, and reach the local area late afternoon.
