Itinerary

Day 1 We travel east to Royal Tunbridge Wells for free time for lunch and a look around the famous Pantiles, before continuing to our hotel outside Ashford.

Day 2 Our day is spent in Canterbury, where you can explore the fascinating history of the city. You might like to visit the Roman Museum, St Augustine’s Abbey, the UNESCO site of Canterbury Cathedral or stroll through the Franciscan Gardens by the Great Stour (entrances not included).

Day 3 We head out this morning to Leeds Castle, often referred to as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’. Set on two islands within a beautiful lake, the castle dates back to the 12th Century and has well-preserved interiors showcasing the grandeur of various periods. There are 500 acres of gorgeous grounds including a maze, magnificent formal gardens and woodland to explore, and several places in which to purchase your lunch.

Day 4 We visit Walmer Castle, which was once a Tudor artillery fortress that became a country retreat for the Lords Warden of the Cinque Ports, including the Iron Duke of Wellington. Discover over eight acres of glorious gardens, a mix of formal and informal styles, or relax in the late Queen Mother’s Garden, a tranquil haven in a busy world. We also visit the charming coastal town of Deal, known for its beautiful seafront, historic landmarks and relaxed atmosphere.

Day 5 We return via the medieval town of Rye, with cobbled streets, historic buildings, quirky shops, tearooms, pubs and plenty of scenic views. Early afternoon we continue our journey to the local area and home.
