Glorious Devon is blessed with many grand houses and curious family homes and from our base in Dawlish Warren we will visit three of the region’s main and accessible National Trust Properties – Killerton House, Knightshayes and Saltram. *Non-Member's price is £839
Day 1 MONDAY We set off west, arriving at our hotel in the late afternoon. We have a drinks reception before dinner this, and every evening.
Day 2 TUESDAY Today we visit Killerton (NT), a Georgian house set in 2,600 hectares of working farmland, woods, parkland, cottages and orchards. The ground floor of the house is set up as it would look like in the 1920s and 1930s; the upper floor has a fine costume fashion collection. Also, explore the glorious gardens with distant views towards Dartmoor.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY Today our excursion takes us to Saltram (NT) – a magnificent Georgian mansion with tranquil parkland and gardens. One of the Trust's hidden treasures, Saltram is a magnificent house with its original contents gives a fascinating insight into the rich and sophisticated country-estate life.
Day 4 THURSDAY After breakfast we drive to Knightshayes (NT) - a Victorian ‘gothic revival’ country house with richly decorated interiors, set in acres of glorious gardens – This is a country estate on a grand scale!
Day 5 FRIDAY Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we spend a little time in the regency resort of Dawlish, home to the famous Dawlish black swans before returning home during the late afternoon.
Our three-star hotel is set in 19 acres of peaceful woodland in Dawlish Warren, overlooking the Exe Estuary with the beach close by via a public footpath. All bedrooms have TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has comfortable lounges, bar, restaurant, garden, terrace and both indoor and outdoor pools.
