The beautiful county of Devon is a delight to visit at any time of year. On this tour we feature Paignton, the steam railway, a cruise and a visit to historic Plymouth, as well as the delightful towns along the English Riviera and Dartmoor National Park.
Day 1 FRIDAY A leisurely journey to the West Country.
Day 2 SATURDAY Today, we visit Torquay. Why not take a scenic walk along the pier and promenade and visit the Royal Terrace Gardens?
Day 3 SUNDAY This morning we visit Brixham, an attractive port fringed with a tumble of colourful cottages on the surrounding hillsides. We return to Paignton for an afternoon at leisure.
Day 4 MONDAY A superb day out with a ‘Steam and Cruise’ theme. In Paignton, we join the Dartmouth Steam Railway for a delightful and nostalgic ride along the coast and across to the scenic Dart Valley to Kingswear. Here we take the ferry across the harbour to historic Dartmouth. We have time for lunch and to explore the town before we enjoy a 1-hour cruise along the beautiful River Dart. Afterwards, we take the ferry to Kingswear and join the train back to Paignton.
Day 5 TUESDAY Today’s excursion takes us to the historic maritime City of Plymouth. Explore the Hoe, see the famous Mayflower Steps, visit the town centre and obtain lunch. During the day we include a boat trip on the Tamar around the harbour and naval dockyards.
Day 6 WEDNESDAY This morning we journey to Buckfast Abbey, to explore the beautiful abbey church and tranquil gardens. Later we enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Dartmoor National Park.
Day 7 THURSDAY A free day in Paignton.
Day 8 FRIDAY Homeward bound.
