The unique and irresistible charm of the Isle of Wight has prompted us to capture the essence of the island’s historic heritage and stunning gardens.
Day 1 SUNDAY We drive to Portsmouth for our ferry crossing to the Island, arriving at our hotel during the mid-afternoon.
Day 2 MONDAY Today we have included a visit to Osborne House. "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot" said Queen Victoria of Osborne House about her palatial holiday home. Visit Victoria and Albert's private apartments, their bathing beach and children's play-cottage for an intimate glimpse of royal family life. Then stroll through the garden terraces where the stunning views across the Solent reminded Prince Albert of the Bay of Naples. We also visit nearby Whippingham Church, where Victoria and Albert were once regular members of the congregation.
Day 3 TUESDAY This morning we visit the superb Botanic Garden and Visitors Centre, followed by free time in the afternoon to discover the delights of Ventnor.
Day 4 WEDNESDAY Our first stop today is the picture-postcard setting of Godshill, where we include entrance to the marvellous Model Village - a 1/10 scale model of Godshill and Shanklin Old Town that nestles in the grounds of the Old Vicarage. We continue to West Wight visiting Mottistone Manor Garden, a magical five-acre Elizabethan Manor Garden.
Day 5 THURSDAY After breakfast we head to Fishbourne for our ferry back to the mainland and our journey homeward.
Located in the popular seaside resort of Shanklin, the Brunswick Hotel is set within a stunning location, nestling on the coastal path overlooking the English Channel, only a 5-minute walk downhill to the award-winning Blue Flag beaches. This 3-star hotel offers en suite accommodation featuring TV, tea/coffee making facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna, a garden, restaurant and bar. No lift but some ground floor rooms available.
