Itinerary

Day 1 THURSDAY We travel east to Royal Tunbridge Wells with free time for lunch and a look around the famous Pantiles before continuing to our hotel in Folkestone.

Day 2 FRIDAY After breakfast we will visit the historic city of Rochester, known for its connections to Charles Dickens and its cathedral, the second oldest foundation in England. Next, we head for nearby Chatham, where we visit the fascinating Historic Naval Dockyard, a vast treasure trove of all things nautical. We enjoy the official Call the Midwife Tour. This popular TV series has captured the hearts of millions of TV viewers over the years, with our exciting tour introducing you to some of the props, costumes and sets, all led by a costumed Midwife!

Day 3 SATURDAY Today we head to Canterbury with free time to explore the historic city, famed for its medieval buildings, quaint tea shops and magnificent cathedral.

Day 4 SUNDAY This morning we make tracks for the Kent & East Sussex Railway to embark on a one-way steam train journey from Bodiam to Tenterden. This afternoon is spent at Great Dixter House & Gardens. Having been the family home of gardener and gardening writer, Christopher Lloyd, the arts and crafts style gardens are particularly impressive here.

Day 5 MONDAY After breakfast we are homeward bound.

Burlington Hotel Best Western Premier, Folkestone

The four-star hotel is a charming Victorian building in the west end of Folkestone. Set in tranquil surroundings and overlooking the English Channel, this hotel was built in the 1890s and still holds its Victorian charm, whilst offering all the mod cons you would expect of a contemporary hotel. Just a 10-minute walk from Folkestone's town centre. All rooms have TV, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Lift to all floors.
