This tour includes visits to some of South Wales’s most popular attractions including the Gower Peninsula, St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff Castle and a fun-filled guided tour around Barry Island to view the famous landmarks associated with the top BBC comedy ‘Gavin & Stacey.’
Day 1 TUESDAY Departing our home area, we journey west into South Wales and our 4-night stay at the Best Western Heronston Hotel.
Day 2 WEDNESDAY Today, we visit the fascinating St Fagans National Museum of History Museum. It is one of Europe's leading open-air museums with exhibits from Celtic times to the present day and tells the story of how Welsh people lived through the ages. In the afternoon we continue to Cardiff where we are treated to a Guided Tour of Cardiff Castle - a proud monument to medieval craftsmanship and Welsh heritage.
Day 3 THURSDAY Following breakfast, we head via Porthcawl to the beautiful Gower Peninsula. It was designated as the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty back in 1956 and offers a diverse landscape with everything from wild moors and limestone cliffs, to golden, sandy beaches. Enjoy a brief visit to Mumbles before our circular Gower drive.
Day 4 FRIDAY “What’s occurring today then?” Plenty, if you are a fan of the hit TV series Gavin & Stacey! - See Barry Island through the eyes of the characters of the British TV series with this guided sightseeing tour by coach. You will get to visit a whole host of filming locations, from the Barry amusement arcade to Stacey's house, while your guide provides you with fun facts and anecdotes about the hit series and its creators.
Day 5 SATURDAY Departing our hotel, we travel via Chepstow before our arrival home late afternoon.
