Itinerary

Day 1 MONDAY We travel northeast to Bury St Edmunds where we stop for refreshments, before continuing to our hotel in Norwich.

Day 2 TUESDAY Our first visit is to Blickling Hall (NT), a magnificent Jacobean mansion, famed for its Long Gallery, fine tapestries, paintings and rare books. The estate was once home to the Boleyn family. We then visit Norwich where you have free time to explore, visit the cathedral, cobbled Elm Hill or Norwich Castle Museum.

Day 3 WEDNESDAY Today, we visit Sheringham Park (NT), a Humphrey Repton landscaped park, featuring a main drive with sea views, rolling parkland and temple. There is a café and a visitors’ centre. We continue to 17th-century Felbrigg Hall (NT), home to fascinating collections, a glorious walled garden and acres of rolling parkland.

Day 4 THURSDAY A day out steaming and cruising through The Broads. We travel to Aylsham to join the Bure Valley Railway for the nine-mile nostalgic journey through the Norfolk countryside. Later, we board the Southern Comfort, a Mississippi paddle boat for a 1½-hour cruise, exploring the beautiful network of rivers, lakes and waterways known as The Broads.

Day 5 FRIDAY Leaving after breakfast, we visit Oxburgh Hall (NT), a medieval moated manor house with Victorian Gothic interiors, a Victorian garden, kitchen garden and French-inspired Parterre. We then continue homeward, arriving in the local area late afternoon.
