The unique and irresistible charm of the Isle of Wight has prompted us to capture the essence of the island’s historic heritage and stunning gardens.
Day 1 FRIDAY We drive to Portsmouth for our ferry crossing to the island, arriving at our hotel during the afternoon.
Day 2 SATURDAY Today we visit Osborne House. "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot" said Queen Victoria of her palatial holiday home. Visit Victoria and Albert's private apartments, their bathing beach and children's play-cottage for an intimate glimpse of royal family life. We also visit nearby Whippingham Church, where Victoria and Albert were once regular members of the congregation.
Day 3 SUNDAY This morning we visit the superb Ventnor Botanic Garden & Visitors Centre, followed by free time in the afternoon to discover the delights of Shanklin Old Town.
Day 4 MONDAY We visit Carisbrooke Castle*. Sitting high and proud at the heart of the Isle of Wight, the castle has been an artillery fortress, king's prison and a royal summer residence. We continue to Mottistone Manor Garden, a magical five-acre Elizabethan Manor Garden.
Day 5 TUESDAY This morning we visit the picture-postcard setting of Godshill, where we include entrance to the marvellous Model Village - a 1/10 scale model of Godshill and Shanklin Old Town that nestles in the grounds of the Old Vicarage. Later, we return to Sandown for free time.
Day 6 WEDNESDAY After breakfast we head to Fishbourne for our ferry back to the mainland and our journey homeward.
The Trouville is situated on The Esplanade in Sandown with sweeping views of the bay from the bar, the restaurant and the twin and double rooms. Single rooms do not have a view. Bedrooms offer TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is a lift.
