National Trust Members’ Tour: We visit three wonderful National Trust properties, as well as exploring some of the pretty towns of the Peak District National Park. *Non-Members Price £619
Day 1 We travel north with suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 Today we explore Lyme Park (NT), nestling on the edge of the Peak District, surrounded by gardens, moorland and a deer park. Originally a remote hunting lodge, Lyme Park was turned into an Italianate palace in the 18th Century, with lavish interiors and packed with treasures. We then travel through the Peak District National Park and have some free time in Buxton before returning to our hotel.
Day 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Quarry Bank Mill (NT) where you can purchase some lunch in the café. Then explore this once thriving cotton mill and see glimpses of the lives of the masters of the industrial revolution and those who toiled to keep the mill running. We return to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 4 We begin our day with a drive into the Peak District including beautiful vistas over Ladybower Reservoir and a visit to Bakewell. In the afternoon we visit Little Moreton Hall (NT), a remarkable Tudor home which has stood the test of time and gives a wonderful insight into a simpler style of living.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we travel south with a stop at the National Memorial Arboretum, before continuing our journey home.
The 19th-century Shrigley Hall Hotel is situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The hotel stands in its own 262-acre estate overlooking the Cheshire Plain. All rooms are elegantly furnished and are equipped with TV, telephone, WiFi, ironing facilities, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is a charge for the use of the swimming pool and spa. The hotel has a lift, but there are some steps throughout.
