A visit to the English Lake District promises rolling hills, majestic vistas and deep mysterious waters, all from our perfect hotel on the shores of Lake Ullswater.
Day 1 We set off northwards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and reaching Glenridding and our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 We travel to Grasmere via Thirlmere, and pass Dove Cottage, where William Wordsworth spent his early married life. We pass Rydal Mount, Wordsworth’s last home, and drive through Ambleside, along the shores of Lake Windermere and over the Kirkstone Pass to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 3 Travelling south following the eastern side of Lake Windermere, we continue to Haverthwaite, where we board our train for the short journey to Lakeside. From here we have a wonderful cruise up the lake to Bowness. After some free time we return to our hotel.
Day 4 We spend the day viewing some of the beautiful northern lakes including Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite and make a stop in Keswick. We also visit the childhood home of William Wordsworth at Cockermouth. The return journey takes us via Skiddaw Forest.
Day 5 This morning we take a steamer trip on Lake Ullswater – the second largest and possibly most beautiful lake in England. This afternoon is free to relax at our hotel or stroll along the lakeside.
Day 6 Departing after breakfast, we head southwards to our local area, making suitable refreshment stops along the way.
