Join us on this cosy Springtime break to the popular resort of Torquay, staying at the gracious Headland Hotel & Spa.
Day 1 MONDAY We travel to the West Country, making a suitable stop for lunch en-route and arrive at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 TUESDAY This morning we explore ‘Bygones’, a deceptively large and fascinating attraction that brings Britain’s past and childhood memories to life. We continue to Torre Abbey, set within 18 acres of garden and parkland. It houses an impressive art collection boasting over 600 incredible works of art from the 18th Century to the present day.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY This morning we drive into Newton Abbot where today is market day. Enjoy a browse around the stalls and a look at the town where you can obtain lunch. Next, we enjoy a ride on the South Devon Railway, from Buckfastleigh to Totnes. On arrival you can stretch your legs before the train returns to Buckfastleigh. Here, the railway offers an extensive museum, workshops, gifts and book shop and refreshment rooms.
Day 4 THURSDAY We head to Kingsbridge, ‘capital’ of South Devon, with a chance to look around the pleasant town. Moving on we head for delightful Dartmouth with its many naval connections, including the Royal Naval College where we enjoy a scenic one-hour cruise along the beautiful River Dart.
Day 5 FRIDAY Departing our hotel after breakfast we return homeward making a convenient stop for lunch en-route arriving home late afternoon.
