Step back in time and glide through history on this captivating tour into the heart of Shropshire.
Day 1 SUNDAY Leaving the local area this morning we travel towards Shropshire and our hotel, stopping en route for lunch and refreshments.
Day 2 MONDAY A leisurely morning drive through Shropshire travelling via Wenlock Edge to one of England's most ancient towns. Ludlow dates back 1000 years having over 500 listed buildings and a castle. In the afternoon head north to the river town of Shrewsbury famed for its black and white timber buildings. A River Severn cruise has been arranged for you to sit back, relax and admire the town whilst enjoying a cuppa.
Day 3 TUESDAY This morning we head to Llangollen - a thriving little town and home to both a steam railway and Llangollen Canal. Time free to have a stroll and have lunch before boarding the narrowboat for a two-hour trip across Thomas Telford's Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - 1000 feet long and 126 feet high and recognised as a World Heritage Site. We return through Shropshire countryside.
Day 4 WEDNESDAY After breakfast we visit Blists Hill Victorian Town, to discover what life was like more than 100 years ago at the famous open-air museum. Meet some (almost) real Victorians in their authentic shops and cottages. Our journey takes us via Ironbridge where the industrial revolution began. Built in 1779 the cast iron structure was the first ever cast-iron bridge.
