Day 1 FRIDAY We travel south, making a suitable lunch stop en-route, arriving at the 4- star Belmont Hotel in Sidmouth mid-afternoon for our 3-night stay.
Day 2 SATURDAY A free day to explore and enjoy the many attractions that Sidmouth has to offer. Make the most of your hotels luxurious surroundings and enjoy a sumptuous Devon cream tea!
Day 3 SUNDAY This morning we enjoy a scenic drive across the Jurassic Coastline to Lyme Regis - a coastal resort that boasts breath-taking scenery and holds a special mystique. Its historic Cobb and harbour are iconic features, set against moody blue cliffs yielding fossilised evidence of life on earth millions of years ago. (Please note that access to the town and promenade from the coach park is via a steep incline and may prove challenging for those with reduced mobility).
Day 4 MONDAY After breakfast we make our way to the tranquil setting of Buckfast Abbey, where the well-maintained grounds, café and abbey are an ideal place to spend some relaxing time. Later, we continue west into Cornwall for a truly luxurious experience at the glorious 4-star Carlyon Bay Hotel.
Day 5 TUESDAY Today, we visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan. After an introductory talk we are free to discover this secret kingdom including its sub-tropical jungle, vegetable, flower & fruit gardens and the ‘Lost Valley.’ Later, we continue to the picture postcard fishing village of Mevagissey where pubs, cafes, galleries and shops cluster around the harbour walls and line the pretty streets.
Day 6 WEDNESDAY We visit the old harbour town of Padstow on the Camel Estuary, a fine example of a Cornish fishing port with a colourful busy harbour surrounded by medieval houses. The town is largely unspoilt with traditional pubs and restaurants including the famous seafood restaurant owned by top TV chef Rick Stein. Explore the quaint narrow streets and interesting shops,’ maybe take a walk to the headland for some fabulous views of the estuary and distant hills.
Day 7 THURSDAY After breakfast we depart our hotel, returning home during the afternoon.
