Day 2 Today’s tour will take in some of the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales. We first drive to the picturesque town of Richmond where we have free time. We re-join our coach and make the journey to Bolton Castle, where about one third of the rooms are fully intact and the grounds of the Castle is almost completely accessible giving visitors great insight into its history. We return to our hotel along Garsdale.
Day 3 We travel through Kendal to Lake Windermere and Bowness. We have time to look around and relax by the lake before we take a cruise along the lake to the southern tip at Lakeside. We then join the delightful Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a steam train ride before we rejoin our coach and head off back over the fells to the hotel.
Day 4 We head towards Penrith and then to Ullswater, regarded by many as the most beautiful of all the lakes. We have a short break in Glenridding and then continue over rugged Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside, Lake Thirlmere and Keswick, on the shores of Derwentwater. Here we have time for lunch and to explore the town.
