Heartland of Wales

Day 1 SUNDAY We travel by coach into Wales and have a lunch stop close to Tintern Abbey. We continue up the Wye Valley, across the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park to our hotel.

Day 2 MONDAY We visit the stunning Elan Valley where a park ranger boards the coach to take us on a 90-minute guided tour of the estate and magnificent dams, with time after to browse the impressive Visitor Centre before returning to our hotel.

Day 3 TUESDAY Another impressive, scenic journey through the rolling hills and mountains to the seaside town of Aberystwyth. After time in this lovely resort, we board one of the “Great little trains of Wales” the Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway to Devils Bridge.

Day 4 WEDNESDAY Again, a day to marvel as we make our way to Brecon, the beating heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We embark on a relaxing canal boat journey for the afternoon on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal which hugs the mountainside above the valley of the River Usk.

Day 5 THURSDAY A scenic drive through the rolling hills and valleys of borderland Wales to Welshpool, a bustling Welsh town with time for you to explore its historic centre. We continue to majestic Powis Castle. One of the great medieval castles of Wales, entrance is included to the grand state rooms and gardens. (Please note there are steps, some of which are steep, throughout the castle and grounds.)

Day 6 FRIDAY Leaving our hotel after breakfast we travel across the border and visit Ledbury, one of the beautiful black-and-white towns of the area, before continuing our journey to the local area.
