April in The Netherlands is a dream of bright colours and beautiful scents as the famous bulbfields burst into bloom. Enjoy the wonderful gardens at Keukenhof, and try something new in Gouda and Delft, a beautiful town criss-crossed with café-lined canals.
Day 1 FRIDAY We travel to Dover for our Channel crossing to Dunkirk. From here we take the motorways across France and Belgium and into The Netherlands, reaching our hotel on the edge of Alphen ann den Rijn late afternoon.
Day 2 SATURDAY We visit the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, with plenty of time to enjoy the gardens created in 1949 as a showpiece for the Dutch flower industry, and to walk among the magnificent displays of tulips and other bulbs which bloom in their millions.
Day 3 SUNDAY Today we visit Gouda, a pretty town famous for its cheese and its delicious syrup waffles. We then make our way to Delft – a miniature Amsterdam with its own canals and famous chinaware, and we have an included visit to the Royal Delft Museum.
Day 4 MONDAY On our return journey we visit Antwerp, with free time for shopping and lunch. We then travel back to Dunkirk for our afternoon sea crossing. We reach the local area early evening.
