Itinerary

Day 1 SUNDAY We travel west to the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury before continuing to our hotel in Wells.

Day 2 MONDAY After a leisurely breakfast, a drive into the Mendip Hills takes us up to Cheddar and a breathtaking route through the famous limestone gorge. Your Cheddar Explorer ticket includes the magnificent Gough’s Cave*, where you can see the cathedral-like caverns decorated with unbelievable rock formations, Cox’s Cave*, the Museum of Prehistory and ‘Beyond The View’, a virtual tour where you feel you are flying through the gorge.

Day 3 TUESDAY We spend our day in Bath, a protected World Heritage Site, and full of architectural wonders. You might like to visit the Royal Crescent, Pulteney Bridge lined with tiny shops, the Roman Baths, or Pump Room. The town is filled with high street and independent shops, cafés and restaurants, where you can relax and watch the world go by.

Day 4 WEDNESDAY Today the day is yours to enjoy Wells. Wells Cathedral was built between 1175 and 1490 and has been described as “the most poetic of the English Cathedrals”. Or perhaps The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years. This stunning medieval palace is now open to the public, with free guided walks, and the Bishop’s Table café for you to enjoy refreshments. Do not forget to walk down Vicar’s Close, which adjoins the Cathedral, it is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England.

Day 5 THURSDAY Departing after breakfast, we travel to the Clarks Village complex in Street, with over 90 different stores including high street brands & designer goods. We continue eastwards to our homes.
