Romantic Breaks

Valentine’s Day is almost here, and even if you or your partner are not the most romantic people, it’s a great excuse to enjoy some time together and show how much you care.  Especially if your plans were cancelled last year, and now you can look forward to travelling to that special place or being able to book your favourite restaurant.

Now travelling is becoming easier, why not consider taking them on a romantic excursion or holiday sometime this year?  Many places in Europe are affordable and easy to travel to for a short break where you will have experiences and memories to last you for many years.

Here are some of the romantic places we are visiting this year…

London

How about our very own great Capital city, where you’ll fall in love with what this magnificient city has to offer. London is full to bursting with romantic restaurants, the best bars, incredible buildings and a multitude of famous landmarks which are well worth exploring.

We have several trips to London throughout this year for shopping, seeing a West End show, or, in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year, this would be an ideal time to visit Buckingham Palace.  In celebration of the occasion there a special display marking Her Majesty’s Accession.  This includes portraits of the Queen taken by Dorothy Wilding in 1952 with a collection of Her Majesty’s personal jewellery worn for the portrait sittings.  A piece of the jewellery on display will be The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara worn by Her Majesty during this sitting.  We are visiting this exhibition in August, and there are several other opportunities to visit our capital throughout the coming months.

France – Paris & Annecy

Paris, arguably the most romantic city in the world. What could be better than treating your loved one to a visit to this beautiful part of the world. There is so much to see and do in this incredible city. Whether you’re visiting the Eiffel Tower and seeing the incredible views from the top, viewing the breathtaking art in galleries around the city or explore the marvelous architecture of the beautiful buildings all around.

Imagine admiring the views from your own floating hotel, enjoying a panoramic tour of the city in comfort as your boat cruises along the Seine.  Why not join us for a delightful 7-day full-board cruise in July on the MS Botticelli from Paris to Honfleur, travelling through the beautiful Normandy countryside visiting picturesque villages along the way.  Alternatively, we visit Annecy in August often described as the ‘Venice of the Alps’.  Enjoy a cruise on Lake Annecy, travel on the Montenvers Glacier Train and enjoy an afternoon in the Swiss city of Geneva. https://woodstravel.co.uk/holidays/annecy-alpine-adventure/2601

Austrian Tyrol

Maybe not top of your list when looking for a romantic break, but if you are looking for something a little more exhilarating and certainly offering some romantic and picturesque sites, a trip to Austria is well worth considering.  Come with us in June, to discover the most iconic and picture-perfect settings across the spectacular Tyrolean alpine scenery.

Staying at the Mallaun Wellness Hotel, a family run hotel situated in the centre of a tranquil village in the Paznaun Valley, you will be ideally situated for relaxing walks in the surrounding countryside and enjoy some local hospitality in the evening. With trips to Innsbruck, the Samnaun Valley and the awe-inspiring Kaunertal Glacier Road included, this nine-day adventure could be the perfect opportunity to treat your loved one to something a little different!

Amsterdam

A city with so much to offer and much to see, and unfortunately our trip in June does only allow you one day to enjoy the sights.  However, what could be more romantic than experiencing this wonderful city whilst cruising on a glass topped boat travelling through the UNESCO canal district with free time after to explore the city on foot.

This five-day holiday includes a full day at Floriade, the world-renowned horticultural event being held in Almere.  A 60-hectare site packed with outstanding displays, tempting food and an 850m long cableway offering fantastic views of this unforgettable experience.  There is also a day in Arnhem which includes the amazing Netherlands Open Air Museum.
