Itinerary

Day 1 MONDAY We make our way north to Yorkshire and The Royal Whitby Hotel, with time to settle in and relax before dinner this evening.

Day 2 TUESDAY A free day to discover the varied attractions of Whitby where there is time to explore the narrow streets, perhaps buy some Whitby jet – the ‘black amber of the north’ and have ‘proper’ fish and chips for lunch. For the more active, you can climb the famous steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ which stands guard, high above the town.

Day 3 WEDNESDAY This morning we journey across the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors to Eden Camp. Housed within the buildings and grounds of a former Prisoner of War camp, this is a unique museum that will take you back to wartime Britain. Later we journey to Pickering to join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a steam train journey through rugged moorland back to Whitby, passing through Goathland (featured as ‘Aidensfield’ in TV’s Heartbeat).

Day 4 THURSDAY This morning we journey along the coastline to Scarborough. Enjoy free time at leisure to discover the varied attractions of Scarborough. This afternoon we visit Scarborough Fairground Heritage Museum. Step back in time as you wander around the various halls packed full of wonderful exhibits and even take a ride on some of the vintage fairground rides!

Day 5 FRIDAY We commence our journey home. With refreshment stops en-route we arrive back into our area during the early evening.
