Day 1 MONDAY We travel northwards, stopping in St Albans before continuing to our hotel in Marston, located near Grantham.
Day 2 TUESDAY We journey west to the Hardwick Estate (NT), which is made up of stunning houses and beautiful landscapes that have been created over the centuries. Hardwick Hall dates from the late 16th Century and contains many Elizabethan treasures.
Day 3 WEDNESDAY Our visit today is quite different to our usual National Trust properties - The Workhouse, Southwell (NT), the most complete workhouse in existence. Built in 1824 as a place of last resort for the destitute, it now gives a fascinating insight into how society has tackled social welfare through time.
Day 4 THURSDAY This morning we make our way to Woolsthorpe Manor (NT), birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. We move on to Lincoln in time for lunch, where you can explore the historic city with its beautiful cathedral, interesting shops and labyrinth of alleyways.
