Visit some of the well-known treasures of Yorkshire, but also discover an amazing walled garden designed by the much- admired Dutch landscape artist Piet Oudolf, and travel in heritage style through the North York Moors National Park.
Day 1 We make our way north with suitable refreshment stops, arriving at our hotel close to York before dinner.
Day 2 Castle Howard is our morning destination, with world-renowned collections encompassing 300 years, and boasting beautiful gardens and a thousand acres of sweeping parkland. Our afternoon is free in York, where you can stroll, shop or visit one of the excellent museums.
Day 3 We travel to Pickering to board the Norh York Moors Railway for a nostalgic journey through the National Park. We disembark in Grosmont and continue by coach to Whitby, dominated by the Abbey ruins high over the town.
Day 4 We are off to Scampston Hall for a guided tour of one of the finest Regency country houses in North Yorkshire, packed with fine works of art, furniture and porcelain. Don’t miss the award-winning Walled Garden. Our final visit is to the Scarborough Fair Collection, home to vintage cars, steam engines and fairground rides.
Day 5 We make our way south and reach our local area early evening.
Our four-star hotel, based around an impressive manor house, is just three miles from the centre of York and has restaurant/brasserie, bar lounge and tea room with views over six acres of gardens. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. There is a lift to most rooms.
