A stunning tour through the landscapes which have inspired artists and authors for centuries.
Day 1 We journey north to West Yorkshire, arriving at our hotel in Skipton late afternoon.
Day 2 Travelling into Brontë Country, we visit Haworth, nestled on the edge of the West Yorkshire moorlands. We have entrance to the fascinating Brontë Parsonage Museum, followed by free time to visit the shops and get some lunch on the steep cobbled main street of the town. We complete our day with a journey on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, from Oxenhope where we enjoy a 5-mile heritage journey to Keighley, on the line synonymous with the 1970’s film “The Railway Children”.
Day 3 We start our day with a visit to Saltaire Village, a World Heritage Site named after Sir Titus Salt who built the village and a textile mill, known as Salts Mill. This afternoon we return to Skipton, where we enjoy a two-hour cruise on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal with cream tea on board.
Day 4 The Yorkshire Dales National Park is our destination, through the beautiful countryside via Grassington and the pretty village of Kettlewell, along Wharfedale and up to the market town of Hawes. We have time to get lunch before we make our way to Wensleydale Creamery where we have an introduction to cheese-making.
Day 5 Travelling south, we stop en route at the National Memorial Arboretum, and arrive in the local area early evening.
