On our new tour, discover England’s smallest city, the beautiful Mendip Hills, spectacular Cheddar Gorge, Bath, and the Somerset Coast.
Day 1 A taxi picks you up from home and takes you to your Woods coach, which then travels west to Salisbury before continuing to our hotel in Wells.
Day 2 A day in the glorious city of Bath, a protected World Heritage Site and full of architectural wonders. We are joined by a local guide for a 90-minute driven tour to see the sights, and the rest of the day is free for your own exploration.
Day 3 We head across to the Somerset coast via Cheddar Gorge to Weston-super-Mare for free time to explore this iconic seaside resort. We then have a short stop in Clevedon, overlooking the Severn Estuary, and home to the only Grade 1 listed pier in England. This afternoon we head to Oakham Treasures for a trip down Memory Lane with its vast and unique collection of memorabilia from grocery displays to vintage tractors. We return to our hotel across the Mendip Hills.
Day 4 A free day to explore Wells and its Wednesday market. With its cobbled streets, medieval architecture, compact historic centre, magnificent cathedral and unique moated Bishop’s Palace, there is plenty to see and do in this wonderful city. Alternatively, join your driver on a half-day excursion to Glastonbury or Clarks Shopping Village.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel the short distance to Kilver Court Gardens, a glorious eclectic garden with its own viaduct. Explore the gardens and enjoy an explanatory talk with tea and cake before we continue to Shaftesbury for our lunch stop. We reach our homes late afternoon.
