We explore South Wales from the heights of the Brecon Mountains to Cardiff waterfront. We make some money and taste some whiskey along the way.
Day 1 We make our way west, stopping in Marlborough for lunch, and arriving at our hotel in the afternoon to be greeted with tea/coffee and biscuits.
Day 2 Our day begins with a journey along the beautiful Wye Valley to Symonds Yat where we enjoy a cruise on the River Wye. We then head to the historic town of Ross-on-Wye and we return through the Forest of Dean via Lydney and Chepstow.
Day 3 This morning we travel north-east to the small village of Pant, where we board one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, the Brecon Mountain Railway for a scenic journey through the Brecon Beacons. In the afternoon we visit Penderyn Distillery, home to Wales’ most famous whiskey, where we have an included distillery tour and tasting.
Day 4 Today we visit The Royal Mint, where 1000 years of history combines with the finest craftmanship and modern techniques to make coins and medals for over 60 countries, and where you have the opportunity to make your own money! Later we visit central Cardiff where the rest of the day is free to explore the cosmopolitan capital of Wales.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast we travel east, with suitable stops along the way. We return you to your homes in the afternoon.
Our four-star hotel is situated 4 miles from the city, and as well as the restaurant, terrace and bar, there is a fitness suite and a lift. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, ironing facilities, rainfall shower, hairdryer and hospitality tray.
