We explore South Wales from the heights of the Brecon Mountains to Cardiff waterfront. We make some money and taste some whiskey along the way.
Day 1 After a morning taxi pick up, we make our way west, stopping in Marlborough for lunch, and arriving at our hotel in the afternoon to be greeted with tea/coffee and Welsh cakes.
Day 2 Today we visit The Royal Mint, where 1000 years of history combines with the finest craftmanship and modern techniques to make coins and medals for over 60 countries, and where you have the opportunity to make your own money! After our visit we return to Cardiff where the rest of the day is free to explore the cosmopolitan capital of Wales.
Day 3 After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to the 10th-century Cistercian abbey of Tintern, nestled on the bank of the River Wye, and once the jewel in the monastic crown. Next to the border town of Monmouth, where we have time for lunch with the rest of the day free for your own exploration.
Day 4 This morning we travel north-east to the small village of Pant, where we board one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, the Brecon Mountain Railway for a scenic journey through the Brecon Beacons. We have time for lunch in Brecon before visiting Penderyn Distillery, home to Wales’ most famous whiskey, where we have an included distillery tour and tasting.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast we travel east, with suitable stops along the way. We return you to your homes, via your taxis, in the afternoon.
