National Trust Members’ Tour: An early tour incorporating four wonderful National Trust properties in Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
Day 1 After being picked up from your door by taxi, you join our touring coach and we travel northwards, stopping in St Albans before continuing to our hotel in Marston.
Day 2 This morning explore the historic city of Lincoln, with its beautiful cathedral, interesting shops and labyrinth of alleyways. In the afternoon we visit Tattershall Castle (NT), rising majestically from the flat Lincolnshire Fens. We have a guided tour to take us back through the centuries. Tonight, there will be bingo after dinner.
Day 3 Our first stop of the day is Stamford with a little free time to explore, before continuing to Woolsthorpe Manor (NT), birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. At lunchtime we move on to Belton House (NT). The perfect English country house, set in its own deer park, Belton was built in the 17th century and offers delightful gardens, orangery and lakeside walks. This evening after dinner we have a quiz.
Day 4 We journey west to the Hardwick Estate (NT), which is made up of stunning houses and beautiful landscapes that have been created over the centuries. Hardwick Hall dates from the late 16th century, and contains many Elizabethan treasures, and we have an included tour. In the afternoon we make a short visit to Matlock before returning to our hotel.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we travel southwards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and arrive in the local area late afternoon.
