Enjoy a wonderful spring break in the east as we explore Suffolk, visiting some of the county’s historic towns, Ickworth House, Sutton Hoo and visit The Swan at Lavenham for tea and cake.
Day 1 We travel east via the Dartford Crossing, and after suitable refreshment stops, we reach our hotel late afternoon in time to relax before dinner.
Day 2 We spend the morning exploring the heritage, Medieval architecture and elegant Georgian squares of Bury St Edmunds. We then continue to Ickworth House, built as an Italian-style showcase for the Hervey family’s collections of Georgian silver, Regency furniture, books and ﬁne paintings, all set within beautiful grounds.
Day 3 This morning we visit Otley Hall, a 16th Century moated hall set in 10 acres of magniﬁcent gardens in the Suﬀolk countryside. We then continue to the coast and the pretty town of Aldeburgh, where you can either spend time in the town or visit The Red House, once home of Benjamin Britten.
Day 4 A free morning at our hotel, or join your driver on a trip to historic Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town. This afternoon we drive up to Sudbury, then Lavenham, where we enjoy tea and mini-cakes at the famous Swan Hotel.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast and make our way back to the local area with suitable refreshment stops along the way.
