Cornwall is a land of dramatic rocky cliff sides, hidden harbours, delightful fishing villages, glorious gardens and lush countryside all coming together to make one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK. St Agnes sits in both a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site
Day 1 We drive west, making a couple of stops along the way, and arrive at our hotel in St Agnes late afternoon. Our home for the next five nights is a compact little village with pubs, restaurants, beaches and some stunning coastal walk.
Day 2 A morning in the coastal town of St Ives with its cobbled streets winding between tiny fishermen’s cottages. The town has a worldfamous art scene and is home to the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Tate St Ives. Your afternoon is free in St Agnes.
Day 3 Today we begin at Padstow, a delightful little port, nestling on the beautiful Camel Estuary, with a colourful harbour surrounded by pastel-washed medieval houses. In the afternoon we visit Pencarrow House & Gardens, tucked away on the edge of Bodmin Moor and a family home for almost 500 years. We enjoy a guided tour of the house and have time to explore the gardens and visit the Peacock Café.
Day 4 A visit to the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan, which now cover 57 acres with an impressive range of plant breeds and features, including an Italian garden and a sub-tropical ‘jungle’ valley. We have an introductory talk before free time to explore. This afternoon we visit Truro, Cornwall’s cathedral city.
Day 5 We visit the remarkable Eden Project, which has new delights every season. The Rainforest Biome is always fascinating and the sights and scents of the Mediterranean Biome houses beautiful flower displays and seasonal crops. The vast outdoor gardens are home to over 20 plant-based exhibits, colourful seasonal borders and art installations.
Day 6 We travel east with suitable refreshment stops, reaching the local area late afternoon.
