Enjoy a journey on the Severn Valley Railway and visits to Ironbridge, Cadbury World, and the wonderful and very different museums of Birmingham and Blists Hill.
Day 1 Following a morning collection from home, we join our Woods coach and travel toward Shropshire, making suitable refreshment stops along the way, and arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 Today we travel to Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, which brings together Saxon gold, Egyptian mummies and masterpieces by British and European painters. In the afternoon we visit Cadbury World, to experience a fascinating guided tour of Bourneville and time to discover the Cadbury story and enjoy a cream tea.
Day 3 A short drive to Bridgnorth brings us to the Severn Valley Railway for a return steam train journey to Kidderminster. We break our journey in Highley with a visit to the Engine House Visitor Centre, where you might like to get some lunch. Reboard the train and visit Kidderminster, before returning to Bridgnorth, a town divided in two and linked by a remarkable cliff railway. Finally we return to our hotel by coach.
Day 4 This morning we visit Blists Hill, a fascinating re-creation of a Victorian town complete with staff in authentic costume. We also visit Ironbridge, a centre of the industrial revolution and now a delightful town of tearooms and antique shops.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast we travel south with a stop in Cheltenham, before continuing home, meeting our taxis late afternoon.
