We are very pleased to be able to offer a late summer tour which includes a visit to the wonderful RHS Bridgewater, time at Arley Hall and journeys on both the Anderton Boat Lift and the iconic Manchester Ship Canal.
Day 1 We pick you up from home by taxi and then travel north by coach, with suitable refreshment stops along the way. We reach our hotel south of Warrington late afternoon.
Day 2 We travel to Liverpool to board our Mersey Ferries ship for a leisurely six-hour cruise on the legendary Manchester Ship Canal. We travel up to Latchford Locks, enjoying spectacular scenery and a lively commentary along the way, telling the story of how this magnificent waterway shaped the city of Manchester and the north-west of England. We return to Liverpool, and make our way back to the hotel by coach.
Day 3 We spend our day at RHS Garden Bridgewater in Worsley. We have an introductory guided tour and a chance to explore this remarkable project which saw the transformation of the site of Worsley New Hall into an iconic 154-acre RHS Garden. Tom Stuart-Smith and a team of award-winning designers have created ‘gardens within a garden’ by blending history with world-class horticulture. We have a quick visit to Worsley before we return to our hotel.
Day 4 Today we visit Arley Hall and Gardens, one of the most interesting and attractive stately homes in the north west. In the afternoon we visit Anderton for a journey on the famous boatlift and a short cruise on the canal.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel south, making stops for lunch and refreshments, reaching our taxis late afternoon.
