We are very pleased to be able to offer a summer tour which includes a visit to the muchanticipated new RHS Bridgewater Garden, the seaside resort of Southport, a tour of the Ribble Valley and a visit to the wonderful Salmesbury Hall.
Day 1 We pick you up from home by taxi and then travel north by coach, with suitable refreshment stops arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 Today we make our way to the seaside town of Southport. You might like to take a stroll along the Grade II listed pier, relax on the waterfront or visit the shops. On our way back we visit Samlesbury Hall, built in 1325 and steeped in fascinating history. From Tudor priest holes to Victorian kitchens, we a led on a guided tour from the 14th to the 20thcentury.
Day 3 We travel to Clitheroe to meet Simon Entwistle, our excellent local guide for a tour of the Ribble Valley and an insight into the fascinating history of Pendle Witch Country.
Day 4 We visit the brand new RHS Garden Bridgewater in Worsley, rescheduled to open to the public in early summer 2021. We have a short guided tour and a chance to explore this remarkable project, which will include one of the largest walled gardens in the UK, beautiful new gardens designed by award-winning landscapers, lake and extensive woodland. Before returning to our hotel we visit the picturesque village of Worsley on the Bridgewater Canal, from which the RHS garden took its name.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel south, making stops for lunch and refreshments, reaching our taxis late afternoon.
Our recently refurbished four-star hotel is a converted 700-year-old country manor in a tranquil setting in Clayton-le-Moors. Leisure facilities include indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, gym and treatment rooms. The contemporary bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, ironing facilities, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel comprises three buildings and there is a lift to some rooms.
