Explore the stunning scenery and fascinating history of the Peak District and marvel at the fine craftsmanship still thriving in the Potteries.
Day 1 We head north toward Derby, making suitable refreshment stops along the way.
Day 2 We head into the Peak District National Park to explore some beautiful scenery on the way to the spa town of Buxton, with its stunning ornamental gardens and gorgeous Georgian and Victorian architecture. Depending on time, we may stop at the Carsington Water Visitor Centre on our return journey.
Day 3 Today we travel into Staffordshire for a behind-the-scenes tour at the world-famous Wedgwood factory. Learn how the skilled artisans design, create, cast, glaze and decorate the wares in the original 1940s working factory. After an included light lunch discover the impressive collections in the gallery and maybe treat yourself in the shop.
Day 4 We return to the Peak District for a visit to Haddon Hall, over 900 years old, and acclaimed as one of the most beautiful medieval manor houses in the country. We have a guided tour of its perfectly preserved historic rooms. Then you can stroll in the Elizabethan terraced gardens, walled gardens, or look out over the Derbyshire countryside and the River Wye.
Day 5 We travel southwards, visiting the National Memorial Arboretum, and arriving in the local area early evening.
Our modern four-star hotel is located in Mickleover, near Derby. The hotel has two bars, and leisure facilities including indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and gym. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, ironing facilities, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has a lift to all floors.
