Explore the stunning countryside and picturesque villages of Lancashire and the Ribble Valley by coach and canal boat, learning about the history, the famous witch trials and the wonderful countryside on the way.
Day 1 A morning departure to meet your tour coach, and then we travel north to Lancashire with suitable refreshment stops along the way.
Day 2 Our guide joins us today for our visit to the beautiful Browsholme Hall and its gardens laid out in the style of “Capability” Brown. The Hall was built in 1512 and is the ancestral home of the Parker family to this day, we enjoy a guided tour during our visit. This afternoon we have a short drive to Riley Green Marina. Here we join our canal boat for a relaxing and peaceful cruise, with afternoon tea served along the way.
Day 3 Today we have a full day guided tour of Pendle Hill Country, hearing about the infamous witches. We call at Barrowford Visitor Centre for a break, then head to Clitheroe where there is time for lunch. The day continues with a drive through the Britain in Bloom village of Chipping and on into the Hodder Valley with a break at the Riverside Tearooms before heading back to the hotel.
Day 4 This morning we begin with a ride along the Ribble Valley to Longridge and north to the City of Lancaster, with its historic castle. We have time to explore and obtain lunch before we enjoy a ride through the beautiful Trough of Bowland with delightful scenery and pretty villages as we return for dinner and our final evening.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we make our way southwards, arriving in the local area late afternoon.
Our three-star hotel is located in the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley. The hotel features an award-winning restaurant and a leisure club with gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift, but some ground floor rooms are available.
