Day 2 We travel through Bilsdale and the beautiful scenery of the National Park to Helmsley, where we have time for a stroll and some lunch. We continue past Ampleforth and Byland Abbey to Kilburn, under the famous White Horse. Here we visit the Mousey Thompson Visitor Centre, home to the famous woodworker.

Day 3 We begin with the Danby Moors Centre, on the River Esk. Learn about the flora and fauna of the moors before enjoying an included tea and scone. We then head to Hutton-le-Hole and the Ryedale Folk Museum, before continuing to Pickering for an 18-mile steam train journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Grosmont, calling at Goathland on the way.

Day 4 A day at the seaside begins at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, where we take the unique cliff lift to the shore and enjoy a stroll along the historic pier. Next via Loftus, Staithes and Sandsend we reach the bustling fishing port of Whitby. We return across the moorland past Scaling Reservoir.

Day 5 We travel to Preston Park and Hall Museum, a wonderful collection of memorabilia and a lovingly constructed Victorian street surrounded by attractive parkland. We then join the Teesdale Princess for a cruise on the River Tees to the cobbled town of Yarm. We return mid-afternoon.
