Day 2 We travel to Salford Quays to board our Mersey Ferries ship for a leisurely six-hour cruise along the whole length of the legendary Manchester Ship Canal. We travel the 35-miles of the canal, enjoying spectacular scenery and a lively commentary along the way, telling the story of how this magnificent waterway shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of England. Refreshments and snacks can be purchased on board. We disembark at Pier Head, Liverpool and make our way back to the hotel by coach.

Day 3 Today we start our day with a journey just over the border, into the Derbyshire Peak District and the wonderful spa town of Buxton. Late morning, we make our way to Quarry Bank Mill, where you can discover the lives of a complete industrial community at one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites.

Day 4 After breakfast, we travel to Chester. Visit the amazing city walls, 1000-year old cathedral, Chester castle or Roman amphitheatre. (Entrances not included). After lunch we visit Chester Zoo, home to 21,000 animals and Channel 4’s Wonderful ‘The Secret Life of the Zoo’.
