We explore the iconic sites of Liverpool, including the wonderful cathedral and Albert Dock. We also visit Rufford Old Hall, Southport and Port Sunlight, the home of Sunlight Soap.
Day 1 We pick you up from your door, then our coach makes its way north with suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 After breakfast, we travel into Liverpool and enjoy a driven guided tour to show you the highlights of this fascinating city. We have free time at Albert Dock for your own exploration and lunch, followed by a guided tour of the magnificent cathedral.
Day 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way through the Lancashire countryside to Rufford Old Hall, one of the finest 16th Century buildings in Lancashire. We have time to explore the house and then enjoy an included light lunch. Before returning to our hotel, we visit the Victorian seaside resort of Southport.
Day 4 Driving up on The Wirral Peninsula, we visit Port Sunlight, where we enjoy a guided tour of the village, built by William Hesketh Lever for his factory workers and named after his famous Sunlight Soap. This afternoon we have time in Chester.
Day 5 We bid our hotel goodbye and travel southwards, with a short stop at the National Memorial Arboretum before arriving in the local area early evening.
Our three-star Best Western hotel is situated in the Cheshire countryside and has panoramic views across the Cheshire Plains and the Mersey Estuary from the public rooms. Leisure facilities include indoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, trouser press, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel does not have a lift, but does have some ground floor rooms.
