Our Lincolnshire based tour includes visits to Burghley House & Doddington Hall, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, Lincoln Cathedral and the International Bomber Command Centre, set within 10 acres of landscaped “Peace Gardens”.
Day 1 After being picked up from your door by taxi, you join our touring coach and we travel northwards, stopping in St Albans before continuing to our hotel in Marston, where we are greeted with tea and biscuits.
Day 2 We drive to Lincoln where we visit the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. After free time for time for lunch we visit Lincoln Cathedral. in WWII the Cathedral was a sign on the horizon to crews returning to Lincolnshire RAF bases that they had made it home safely.
Day 3 We start our day with a visit to Doddington Hall and Gardens, a superb Elizabethan mansion completed by renowned architect Robert Smythson in 1600. This much loved family home is surrounded by beautiful gardens remaining faithful to the original Elizabethan layout. Our afternoon is spent at the International Bomber Command Centre, where our guided tour includes access to the Peace Gardens, the Memorial Spire and Walls of Names.
Day 4 This morning we visit magnificent Burghley House, home to the Cecil family. Explore the Elizabethan house with its dramatic state rooms, the house is surrounded by spectacular ‘Capability Brown’ designed parkland. Our afternoon is spent in the historic town of Stamford, one of the finest Georgian towns in England.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we travel southwards making suitable refreshment stops along the way and arrive in the local area late afternoon.
Our three-star charming hotel is set in the beautiful countryside of Grantham and has been recently refurbished to an excellent standard. The hotel has lounge, bar, pleasant restaurant and a health club which boasts swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has a lift to most rooms.
