Join us on a wonderful scenic tour through the dramatic countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the wonderful Lake District.
Day 1 We make our way north, with suitable refreshment stops along the way and arrive at our hotel near Shap late afternoon, with time to relax before dinner.
Day 2 Today’s tour will take in some of the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales. We first drive to the picturesque town of Richmond where we have free time. We return through Wensleydale to Hawes, having a stop at the Wensleydale Creamery to enjoy a demonstration and tasting. We return to our hotel along Garsdale
Day 3 We travel through Kendal to Lake Windermere and Bowness. We have time to look around and relax by the lake before we take a cruise along the lake to the southern tip at Lakeside. We then join the delightful Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a steam train ride before we rejoin our coach and head off back over the fells to the hotel.
Day 4 We head towards Penrith and then to Ullswater, regarded by many as the most beautiful of all the lakes. We have a short break in Glenridding and then continue over rugged Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside, Lake Thirlmere and Keswick, on the shores of Derwentwater. Here we have time for lunch and to explore the town.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we make our way homewards with suitable refreshment stops along the way, arriving in the local area early evening.
This splendid hotel which dates from 1833, lies in 30 acres of private grounds in a wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells. There are extensive bar and lounge areas in which to relax, and bedrooms are equipped with TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Some rooms are accessible by lift.
