Visit the stunning scenery of the lakes and dales and spend a day on the ‘Mountain Goat’ – a specialist tour by minibus which allows us to travel over dramatic mountain passes and see areas inaccessible by the larger coach.
Day 1 We make our way north making suitable refreshment stops en route before arriving at our hotel late afternoon.
Day 2 This morning we take a scenic drive over the Yorkshire Dales to Richmond, where there is free time to explore and get lunch. We then visit Hawes and stop for a cheese demonstration and tasting at the Wensleydale Creamery. We return along Garsdale.
Day 3 Today we head to Glenridding on Ullswater and enjoy a one-hour steamer trip on the second largest and possibly most beautiful lake in England. We then cross the Kirkstone Pass to Windermere and spend some free time in Bowness-on-Windermere before returning to our hotel.
Day 4 This morning we join the minibuses of the ‘Mountain Goat’ for a tour called The High Adventure! Our route was pioneered by the Romans, and is focused on the Western Lake District, taking in Wrynose and Hardknott Passes, a remote 2nd-century Roman fort, England’s deepest lake and the grounds of Muncaster Castle.
Day 5 Departing the hotel after breakfast we make our way south towards home making suitable refreshment stops en route.
