Molveno

Lake Molveno – Italy’s Hidden Gem

Nestled in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites is the almost unknown gem of Lake Molveno. Enjoying a sheltered location, this charming lakeside town has a quieter and more restful atmosphere than some of the busier lakes, and is an ideal base from which to explore Trentino with visits to Trento, Verona, Lake Levico and Lake Garda. Between the water and the mountains, relax and enjoy in Italian style.

Itinerary

Day 1 Morning collection from your home to join our coach for the drive to Dover and our ferry to Calais. We continue through France to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken in time for our evening meal.

Day 2 We continue our journey through Germany, Austria and across the Brenna Pass into Italy, arriving at our hotel in Molveno in time for a welcome drink, evening meal and a stay of 6 nights.

Day 3 A day to relax at our hotel or stroll by the lakeside. The town is built up the hillside, and our hotel is only a short walk from the centre of town and the lakeside. Alternatively, join your driver for a half-day excursion to Trento, the regional capital. There is a market in the morning, and the historic streets and cathedral are well worth some exploration.

Day 4 Today we drive south to the beautiful lake shore resort town of Riva del Garda, nestled between the towering mountains of the Dolomites and the largest of the Italian lakes. Relax in one of the town bistros, walk the lakeside promenade, or take a boat over to the enchanting town of Limone on the eastern shore (not included).

Day 5 A free day to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. You could take advantage of your Dolomiti Card, with which you can travel freely on public transport within Trentino and have free or discounted entry to many museums and attractions in the area. One wonderful option would be to take the cable car to the panoramic terrace 1350m above the lake, in the heart of the Natural Park Adamello-Brenta. Tonight we have a candlelit dinner at our hotel.

Day 6 We visit the City of Verona, the setting for ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and ‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona’. We begin with a guided walking tour to gain some historical insight and see the main sights, then there is free time to explore. Visit the great Roman Arena, one of the largest and best amphitheatres in the world; wander through the narrow streets and historic piazzas; or take a cappuccino in one of the many charming cafés.

Day 7 We visit another pristine lake of the Dolomites at Levico Terme, an historic spa town in the beautiful Sugana Valley. The old town offers charming shopping streets, tranquil gardens and a long lakeside promenade, and we have included a light lunch at a local hotel to complete this relaxing day.

Day 8 We leave Italy for the return drive across Austria and Germany to our overnight hotel, arriving in time for our evening meal.

Day 9 We travel through France to Calais for a late afternoon ferry crossing to Dover before continuing the return journey to the local area, where our door to door collection service will be waiting to take you home.
