Our tour to Kent includes a visit to Canterbury, the Historic Chatham Dockyard, Ightham Mote, Leeds Castle and the spring flower displays at Sissinghurst Garden.
Day 1 Leaving our local area in the morning, we head for Tunbridge Wells, with free time for lunch before continuing to our hotel outside Rochester. We have an included welcome drink before dinner for the opportunity to meet your fellow guests.
Day 2 A day out today in Canterbury. Explore the ancient city walls, the magnificent cathedral and quaint cobbled streets filled with interesting shops & cafés.
Day 3 Today we visit The Historic Dockyard Chatham, which houses treasures of the ‘Age of Sail’. Explore a Cold War Submarine, a WWII destroyer, historic RNLI vessels, a Victorian sloop and look out for the filming locations of Call The Midwife, Les Misérables and Bridgerton! We return to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 4 We travel to Leeds Castle to visit both the historic castle which spans 900 years of history and the 500 acres of grounds. In the afternoon we visit Sissinghurst, an internationally renowned garden developed by Vita Sackville-West and bursting with spring daffodils and crocuses.
Day 5 Leaving after a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Ightham Mote, a romantic moated manor house which has been owned by medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high-society Victorians. The building is surrounded by peaceful gardens with an orchard, water features, lakes and woodland. Mid-afternoon we continue our journey homewards.
