Join us on this exploration of Hidden London with a Blue Badge Guide to discover crime, punishment, and classic murder mystery in The Mousetrap.
Day 1 After our local pick ups, we travel to London to meet our Blue Badge Tour Guide in Clerkenwell for the best fish & chip lunch in London! We then have a City of Gallows guided coach tour. From Smithfield to Southwark, from Banqueting House to Newgate Prison, executions became embedded in London’s landscape and people’s lives. We finish at the Executions exhibition at the Museum of London where all the objects and stories are about real Londoners, and reveal the fascinating human stories of both spectators and participants. We check into our hotel to relax before dinner.
Day 2 With our Blue Badge Guide, we turn from Illegal to Legal London. Mostly off the coach today you’ll be equipped with the crystal-clear VOX headsets so you won’t miss a word from the Tour Guide. We visit Lincoln's Inn, the church of the Knights Templar, the Royal Courts of Justice and explore Inner and Middle Temple where Rumpole of the Bailey had his chambers. Dinner together at the hotel this evening.
Day 3 In the morning we drive five minutes to Greenwich for a Thames Cruise to Westminster. There will be free time in the Charing Cross Road - Trafalgar Square area before enjoying a Matinee performance of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap at the beautiful St Martin’s Theatre - the longest running show in the West End. After the performance we head home.
A row of handsome 18th century residences overlooking the open grassland of Blackheath to Royal Greenwich Park, with some 20th century additions make up our family-run three-star hotel. There is a pleasant lounge, bar, restaurant and walled garden. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray. The hotel has a lift to some rooms.
