An epicurean delight with cheese, wine and whiskey in some lovely locations in South Wales.
Day 1 We make our way west, stopping in Marlborough for lunch, and arriving at our hotel in the afternoon to be greeted with tea/coffee and biscuits.
Day 2 We begin our tour at the family-run Blaenafon Cheddar Company for a talk and tasting. Their award-winning cheese is matured 300 feet below ground in coal mines of the Brecon Beacons giving their cheeses a unique distinctive flavour. Our lunch stop is in Abergavenny, and then we visit Llanover Garden. We have included a guided tour of the garden followed by tea/coffee and cake.
Day 3 This morning we travel to the market town of Cowbridge, where you can explore the shops or visit the Physic Garden with its glorious display of medicinal plants and herbs. Next on to Glyndwr Vineyard, Wales’s oldest winery. Our guided tour will give a detailed overview of their wine-making process, and includes a wine tasting, accompanied by a platter of local foods. They also have llamas!
Day 4 This morning we travel north-east to the small village of Pant, where we board one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, the Brecon Mountain Railway for a scenic journey through the Brecon Beacons. In the afternoon we visit Penderyn Distillery, home to Wales’ most famous whiskey, where we have an included distillery tour and tasting.
Day 5 Departing after breakfast we travel east, with suitable stops along the way. We return you to your homes in the afternoon.
