Nestled in the Bay of St Malo, the Channel Islands are a peaceful haven from modern stresses. Guernsey, the second largest island, is small, friendly and is fringed with rocky cliff walks on one side and wide sandy beaches on the other. The centre is filled with picturesque stone houses and pretty country roads edged with wildflowers. Our Autumn visit will show you the best of the countryside and you have the chance to visit the beautiful islands of Herm and Sark.
Day 1 We travel by Woods coach to Southampton/Gatwick Airport for our flight to Guernsey. On arrival you are met by a local coach and transferred to our hotel in the Parish of Vale.
Day 2 Today join your local driver for a half day excursion to see some of this beautiful island. At the end of our tour, you will have the option of returning to the hotel at lunchtime, or being dropped in St Peter Port for some exploration or retail therapy. If you choose this option, you will need to return to our hotel independently by bus or taxi (not included).
Day 3 A free day. Your Woods Tour Escort is on hand to give you some ideas for where to visit and what to see.
Day 4 This morning we board the catamaran from St Peter Port to the small island of Herm. There will be time to walk to Shell Beach or relax in the village of Herm Harbour, where there are a few restaurants, shops and a tavern. Depending on tides, there may be some steps to negotiate either on boarding in St Peter Port or on the return journey mid-afternoon.
Day 5 A second free day. Your Woods Tour Escort will again be on hand and may be able to arrange an optional visit to the peaceful island of Sark (not included), where life moves at a gentle pace and the scenery is stunning.
Day 6 Depending on flight times, you may have a few hours to stroll along the beach before we are transferred by local coach to the airport. At Southampton/Gatwick your Woods coach will be waiting to bring you back to the taxis.
Sitting in its own grounds on a grassy peninsula leading to a sandy bay on the north west coast, the hotel commands wonderful views. A regular and scenic bus service connects you with St Peter Port, the island capital. There is a spacious lounge, bar, pleasant restaurant, and there is a lift. Bedrooms have TV, telephone, WiFi, hairdryer and hospitality tray.
