We are very pleased to be able to offer an early summer tour which includes a visit to the wonderful RHS Partner Garden at Arley Hall, the magnificent gardens at Tatton Park and a trip on the iconic Manchester Ship Canal.
Day 1 We pick you up from home by taxi and then travel north by coach, with suitable refreshment stops along the way. We reach our hotel south of Warrington late afternoon.
Day 2 We travel to Salford Quays to board our Mersey Ferries ship for a leisurely six-hour cruise along the whole length of the legendary Manchester Ship Canal. We travel the 35-miles of the canal, enjoying spectacular scenery and a lively commentary along the way, telling the story of how this magnificent waterway shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of England. We disembark at Pier Head, Liverpool and make our way back to the hotel by coach.
Day 3 Today we visit Arley Hall and Gardens, one of the most interesting and attractive stately homes in the North West. With 8 acres of formal gardens, there are many different areas to explore, all created over the last 250 years by successive generations of the same family, including the fantastic herbaceous border, walled garden and the scented garden.
Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we visit Tatton Park, one of the most complete historical estates in the country. We have included a garden tour, and then there are acres of parkland and gardens to explore, an impressive 18th century mansion, historic working farm and a range of speciality shops and places to eat. We return to our hotel mid-afternoon.
Day 5 Leaving our hotel after breakfast, we travel south, making stops for lunch and refreshments, reaching our taxis late afternoon.
